New month - Time to reflect, wisen up and make defined purposeful changes

covid19 wellbeing May 02, 2020

Friday 1st May - a new month...

Traditionally a day to celebrate the start of Spring - dancing, merriment and lots of colour. This year it is all change - no surprise there then!

A pre-planned change for our public holiday this year to celebrate 75 years of VE Day, and so we have a Friday bank holiday next week rather than our usual Monday bank holiday. That might be 'so what' for many people around the world, but for us in the UK, the only time that we have holidays that aren't on a Monday, is in December / January - Christmas Day and New Year's day are always on the day they fall.

Just to make sure that everything is complete change for us this year...

How do you start your day?

I've started with cold showers on many days and now I've added in dry brushing and patting the skin. It does feel amazing :). A true awakening and a marvellous way to start the day.

And, to level it up a notch..., today I applied pure extra virgin olive oil, with some lavender essential oil, after the dry brushing and prior to the straight intensely cold water. Even more amazing and magical. Definitely worth exploring with!

What have you learnt?

During this time, almost six weeks, what have your learnt, experimented with, tried, explored?

Are you creating space between work and social connections?

How much time are your spending sitting? Looking at a screen?

Are you finding time to enjoy some creative activities?

And some really thought provoking questions...

With what you know now, what would you have done differently 6-8 weeks ago?

And, on the same theme, with what you know now,

  • what advice would you give to the future you, 6 weeks on from now?
  • what do you need to start doing, or do more of?
  • what do you need to stop doing?

So with that, what do you need to start now on the first of May 2020?

2020 is the year of perfect vision, connecting, working together, collaboratively and collectively. I love the term that Tania Gabrielle has put forward, co-liberation, it just seems to fit and fill so much space, perfectly.

What do I mean about 2020 being perfect vision? Well we have always used that term for perfect eyesight.

So with this year of 2020, what do you need to look at differently?

We have had 40 days to settle in to this new way of being. Normally this is sufficient time to establish a new routine.

If you are like me, I can't say that I have established a new routine but rather that I have adapted and now feel like I am finding my way in this "new way of being".

But looking forward to the next 40 days - what habits would you like to adopt, release, build on and develop through consciously setting the routine to support these?

Some things to help you define this thinking might include;

  • Ourselves, our relationships with family, friends, colleagues, clients, charitable support, etc.
  • Our environment, our home, our work space, our community involvement, and so forth.

And I will leave you with that thought.

So many questions being posed today as we start a new era - a new month, the next 40-days in lockdown, the celebratory start of spring.

Take time to reflect and discuss with others around you. I'd love to hear your thoughts too, if they are shareable and you feel inclined to do so.

With love

Lynda
